Why planning your move is important (and how we can help manage your castle)

We understand that moving home is stressful. The change and upheaval can be difficult to deal with. But failing to plan properly can make this already stressful process even more difficult.

Research released by Happy Beds earlier this year found that 71% of people have lost at least one night of sleep because of the stress of moving home.

What’s more, almost half of those questioned had suffered some kind of mishap on moving day. These ranged from furniture getting damaged, to not being able to get items of furniture out of their old property or into their new property.

Almost one-third of people said they were unable to fit a piece of furniture through the door of their new property. A similar number also struggled to move furniture up or downstairs, or to manoeuvre it around a corner.

Many of these mishaps can be avoided by proper planning though. When you use our experienced professional team for your house move, we’ll carry out a thorough assessment of your property and the furniture you’ll be taking with you.

We’ll make sure that every item of furniture can be safely moved out of your home and transported to your new abode. That includes dismantling and reassembling any furniture that is not able to fit out of the door, or into our removal trucks and vans, easily.

Our team have been trained to dismantle and reassemble furniture from a wide range of manufacturers. They have the tools, skills and knowledge to put beds, wardrobes, desks and many more pieces of furniture back together, even without instructions. Knowing that this is an option can alleviate some of the stress of moving day for you.

The other element of your move that you need to carefully plan is the packing itself. You need to have a sensible timeline for packing your belongings. You also need appropriate packing materials.

When you’re trying to fit in packing up your home around work and other commitments, you may feel as though you need to start boxing up items weeks in advance. But then you run the risk of needing something that’s already been packed before your move. You may also face the stress of having to find additional boxes if you run out in the days before your move.

Using our full packing service is the best way to avoid all of these headaches. At least two days before your move, we will deliver all the boxes and wardrobe cartons required to your home. Our team are highly efficient at packing – we do it all the time.

In just one to two days, we can pack all of your belongings ready for your move. Not only that, but each and every item will be safely and securely packed. Fragile possessions, like glassware and vases, will be properly wrapped using wrapping paper and bubble wrap.

All of the boxes will also be labelled, not only with the contents, but also which room it needs to be delivered to in your new home. This means that not only is the move itself less stressful, but that unpacking afterwards is also made that bit easier.

The one thing we recommend that you pack yourself is a small overnight bag containing all of your essentials for your first couple of days in your new home.
