Why moving during the festive season might not be such a bad idea

You could be forgiven for thinking that moving ahead of Christmas is a bad idea. However, here at Removals Unlimited we believe this is a great time of year to move, if you’re in a position to complete your property purchase and/or sale in the coming weeks.

One of the main reasons we feel that Christmas is a good time of year to move is that you are likely to have the time to manage the process properly. In fact, as an article for You Magazine pointed out earlier this year, you could end up with 11 days off over the festive period by taking just four days of annual leave.

This is because Christmas Day falls on a Saturday and Boxing Day on a Sunday in 2021, which means both the 27th and 28th December are bank holidays. Similarly, New Year’s Day also falls on a Saturday this year, which means you get the added bonus of Monday 3rd January off as this is when the new year bank holiday lands.

Therefore, if you were to book 24th December and 29th to 31st December as annual leave, you would have a whopping 11 days off. And if you organise your move for just ahead of the festive season, that’s a good amount of time to unpack, get settled and do a lot of those odd jobs that pop up when you move home.

You don’t have to worry that you won’t be able to find a removals company in Bournemouth, Ringwood, Christchurch, Poole or elsewhere in the South West, because we will be on hand to pack, move and store throughout December.

We know that during the Christmas and New Year period many people have the time to plan and manage their moves properly, which is why we’re here to assist you in any way that we can. To take some of the stress out of the process, and to ensure your belongings and furniture are packed efficiently and securely, make use of our full packing service.

Our team are also experts at dismantling and reassembling furniture, so we can ensure you are not only in your new home, but that you have the essential creature comforts set up before we clock off on moving day.

If you are planning a move around Christmas, Your Mortgage has a few top tips to help it run as smoothly as possible (and to help you tick off a few jobs along the way). One of the best pieces of advice is to include a change of address note in all of the Christmas cards you send this year, and to make sure you don’t forget to redirect your mail.

Another piece of advice is to set your Christmas decorations to one side and clearly label them ahead of moving day (our team will do this for you if you opt for our full packing service!) so that you can make your new home feel festive, even if you’re moving a few days before Christmas.

Here at Removals Unlimited, we are on hand to support you whenever you move and however you need. Get in touch to find out more about our services and when we’ll be operating over the Christmas and New Year period (the answer is most of it!). We can’t wait to meet you and help you and your family settle into your new abode for a festive season to remember, for all the right reasons!
