Zoopla recently shared a list of seven things that homebuyers wish they’d checked before committing to a property purchase. Among the most prominent was broadband speeds, with almost half of those surveyed stating they wished they’d checked how good the internet connection was before moving.

A further 11 per cent said they wished they’d also checked the mobile phone signal in their new abode. When it came to checking out the home they were buying, 16 per cent also said that they wished they’d taken the time to knock on doors nearby and speak to their neighbours.

Interestingly, a survey shared by Property Reporter back in 2020 found that almost half of people would love it if they could try their new home and area before they committed to the purchase, particularly if they were relocating from another region of the country.

But those who completed the Zoopla survey also shared some regrets about how they’d handled moving out of their old home as well. One of the top regrets was not decluttering enough before moving – just over half of those surveyed said they wished they’d taken the time to get rid of more unwanted possessions before moving house.
