Tips to make moving home more fun
In our line of work, we see people moving home day in, day out, and we’re well aware of how stressful the process can be. Part of our job at Removals Unlimited is to take some of that stress off of your shoulders, but we know that we can’t do everything.
However, there are ways in which you can make the home moving process more fun, and in doing so alleviate just a little of the stress that might come with packing up all of your possessions before you move to your new abode.
Writing for the Metro, Michelle Ewen revealed that she’d always disliked the process of moving until she learned how to gamify it. Essentially this meant that she and her husband found ways to make the tasks that come along with moving house into games.
For example, they applied the “Don’t break the chain” game to all the tasks they had to do around their next move, which meant between them they needed to complete at least one task from their list each day to keep their “chain” intact.
These tasks ranged from signing their next rental agreement to cleaning the kitchen cupboards. Michelle revealed that building up a streak of successes helped give them more momentum to move forwards.
The inventive couple also created their own “mini missions”, much like you’d find in a video game, to help them focus on specific tasks. One involved getting all their entertainment-related equipment set up in a single afternoon, so they booked three different installation companies to come one after another in a kind of relay.
One of the tasks on your list to complete could be getting quotes for your move – while gamifying parts of the process can certainly make it more fun, there are other tasks that you don’t have to tackle unless you want to.
We offer a full house packing service, for example, where our experienced movers and packers will spend a couple of days at your home in the lead up to your moving date to carefully pack all of your belongings in appropriate boxes.
As an article for Forbes noted, one of the best ways to reduce your stress levels during a home move, whether you’re staying in the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch area or going further afield, is to hire a mover to help.
We know from experience what’s involved in a move and we’re always happy to discuss the additional services we provide, such as short- and long-term storage and our furniture dismantling and reassembly service, if those would be useful during your property move.
Just reach out to us to book a free, no-obligation house survey to receive a quote for moving with us and we can also share details of all the helpful add-ons we offer. We have years of experience in the home removals sector and many happy customers – you can read their reviews and testimonials on our website.
