Is it time to look for new office space for your business?

With the news that one Bournemouth-based firm has been named as one of the 100 best places to work in the Solent and South-West region, we thought it was worth digging into what people want from their office environment in 2023 and beyond.

The The Bournemouth Daily Echo revealed that Trethowans solicitors was featured on the list by The Business Magazine, with managing partner Mike Watson telling the newspaper that employee retention is a key focus for the organisation and it’s clearly paying off.

While some firms have remained fully remote since the Covid-19 pandemic forced us all into various lockdowns, others have been returning to offices. However, what employees want from their office space has changed.

Research shared by The HR Director revealed that many people are unhappy at being asked to return to the offices they occupied pre-pandemic because in working from home they have recognised the shortcomings of the spaces.

For example, 74 per cent of European office workers would be happier to come back to the workplace if there were separate spaces available for individual focus work and collaborative activities. So, it sounds like the days of open-plan offices are numbered.

As a business, you may therefore want to consider an office move in Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch or beyond, to help you find a space that your teams will be excited to return to. It may also be important to accept that employees increasingly want the flexibility that hybrid working offers, enabling them to work from home part of the week, and come into the office on the remaining days, rather than needing to be in the office Monday to Friday.
