Are you trying to beat the end of the stamp duty holiday?
The stamp duty holiday was introduced by chancellor Rishi Sunak last year to help the property sector combat the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, with the tax break extended until June 2021.
With just one month remaining until the property tax is re-introduced on many purchases, it seems that more and more buyers are rushing to complete sales, and as a result, there are many people looking for trained professional movers who are based locally, like the friendly and reliable Removals Unlimited team.
Property Industry Eye recently shared the latest Bank of England figures, showing that new mortgage approvals in March of this year stood at 83,000. While this is lower than the 87,000 recorded the previous month, it is still considerably higher than the 73,000 mortgage approvals granted in February 2020, pre-pandemic.
What’s more, net mortgage lending reached £11.3 billion in March, the highest monthly figure recorded since the Bank of England began releasing such details nearly 30 years ago.
Jonathan Sealey, CEO at specialist lender Home Capital, told the news provider that to reach this level of lending in March was “exceptional”.
If you are among the buyers hoping to complete your property purchase before the end of the stamp duty holiday, make sure that you’re not so focused on this aspect of your move that you forget to arrange all-important support for the process of physically moving.

According to data from the Hometrack House Price Index, sales completions are forecast to reach 1.5 million in the UK by the end of 2021, which would put them at their highest level since 2007.
In addition, the index revealed that in April 2021, property values were up by an average of 2.3% across the country. Although there is clearly significant demand from movers, the organisation also revealed that the total stock of homes on the market is down by just over 20% in mid-May this year, compared to the average recorded in 2020.
