Sandbanks in Poole, for example, is renowned for being the most expensive seaside town for property in the UK. Of course, other areas of Poole are much more affordable, and you have neighbouring Bournemouth as an option as well. But if you were thinking that your home in London would give you unlimited options elsewhere, you might need to think again.

Once you have a good idea about property prices, and know how much you’ll be able to borrow, you can set a budget and start house hunting in earnest.

Before you settle on a specific location, it is also advisable to do your research about the area and get a good overview of what living there will be like. If you have the luxury of time, visit the place you’re planning to relocate to at different times of the year.

Bournemouth is well-known for its beach and sunshine in the summer, but it does look and feel different in the winter. However, when the season changes you have events like the Christmas tree trail and Arts by the Sea festival to look forward to instead, not to mention the fun of stormy beach walks.
