Has the pandemic made you more nervous about moving home?

It’s fair to say that a great deal has changed for all of us in the last year and half. Although life is beginning to return to something feeling more like normal after all the disruption of lockdowns and the other associated changes introduced due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this period has certainly affected us all in different ways.

Within the property world, the stamp duty holiday fully coming to an end is one of the most noticeable changes we’ve seen recently. We know that the stamp duty holiday has certainly made our team of professional movers at Removals Unlimited very busy in the last year!

However, while a great deal of people have chosen to move home since the pandemic, it has also made some more nervous about the process. MyHomeMove shared research earlier this year which showed that 66% of UK buyers felt that the pandemic and associated restrictions had made them feel less certain about moving home in 2020 or 2021.

The pandemic has had an even bigger impact on first-time buyers, with 76% of those surveyed stating that the pandemic made them feel discouraged from taking their first step on the property ladder.

Of those who were considering buying a home who were feeling nervous, 40% said that they sought advice from other people in the process to make them feel more comfortable.

We fully understand why you may be feeling nervous about the moving process. As we’re sure you know, pre-Covid moving was considered one of the most stressful life events you can go through, and the pandemic has only made it more challenging.

Research by E.ON in 2015 found that 62% of people named moving house as their most stressful life event, while many revealed they endured three months of stress around a home move.
